Growers have a new plant-based option for managing insect pressure in empty grain stores following the launch of an innovative insecticide.
Organ-X Pro from Lodi UK offers broad-spectrum control of pests including flies, midges, ants, cockroaches and stored product pests such as beetles, grain weevils, and red mites.
Roger Simpson, managing director at Lodi UK, says the addition of Organ-X Pro offers a complete solution for pest management across grain storage while supporting low-input and organic farming practices.
“Organ-X Pro is designed for flexibility, with multiple application methods to suit a variety of farming environments, including use as a surface spray, pressure spray, or thermal and cold fogging.”
Application guidance
For surface and pressure spraying, which is ideal for controlling crawling insects such as red mites and litter beetles, Roger highlights that the product should be diluted to 8% with water.
“I’d advise spraying 50ml of the diluted solution per m2 in infested areas such as walls, door jambs, and cracks where pests typically settle. The treated area should be ventilated during treatment and for up to two hours afterwards.
“Then for fogging, which is especially effective for controlling flies and other flying insects, the product should be diluted to 20% with water and applied to indoor spaces at a rate of 200ml/1000m3.”
“When fogging, grain should be removed from the treated space and surfaces should be covered to avoid contamination. The room should be left to act for four hours, followed by thorough ventilation before re-entry,” he explains.
Produced using a natural extract from Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium, Organ-X Pro is approved for up to 11 applications per year.
“We’re proud to offer such a versatile product that gives farmers a flexible option for managing insect pressure in empty grain stores and other farm environments, where organic-approved products are required,” concludes Roger.
