Weaving Machinery has announced the launch of a new Mounted GD disc drill, designed for growers who prefer mounted, compact machines.

The drill has a host of new features including a tubular coulter frame which deters any material from sitting on the machine, and a two-section folding mechanism for easy calibration and emptying of the hopper, explains Simon Weaving, sales director at Weaving Machinery.

“The Mounted GD was brought to the market in 2015 and has proved immensely popular, the new model has taken all of the proven features and refined them to enhance operator experience.”

Available in 3m and 4m working widths, the new Mounted GD comes complete with an ergonomic 2000l plastic tank, the same as found on Weaving’s Sabre Drill, for better weight distribution, longevity and through-flow of material. The tank is fitted with heavy duty steel lids, along with a side door, allowing easy access for maintenance and cleaning. Rear folding steps and a two-stage platform are included in the design to provide operators with more space when filling the hopper.

“Tried and tested”

The Mounted GD also carries the “tried and tested”, patented GD coulter system which Weaving claims makes it the lowest disturbance direct drill on the market. “This system has also been upgraded to incorporate a unique gas spring to allow ease of operator set up and is more reliable than the previous hydraulic cylinders. The new coulter system also offers a more responsive and constant coulter pressure for even better seed placement.”

To optimise seed rates, seed distribution is powered by RDS Artemis Lite controls with electric metering, while a15cm hydraulic fan delivers the seed to the coulters. The controls can be upgraded to iSOCAN GPS metering, which includes a larger user interface, allows multiple product application and is iSOBUS compatible.

“Every machine at Weaving is built with real farmers in mind,” adds Simon. “We’re proud to support more robust performance for British farmers, with high-spec machinery that’s easy to use and maintain.”

Funding eligibility

For eligible farmers and farm contractors in England, the Mounted GD Disc Drill is eligible for the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) and the application window is open until 4 April.

The new Mounted GD Disc Drill is available to order now, direct from Weaving Machinery and will be showcased at both Cereals and Groundswell this summer.
