Ian Pigott founded Open Farm Sunday with LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) in 2006 and has since also built a FarmSchool that brings around 3500 schoolchildren onto his farm to learn how their food is made and the countryside is cared for.

“Tom’s article is fantastic,” commented the judges, who included AFS vice chairman and Suffolk grower Andrew Blenkiron.

“It clearly meets the objectives of the brief and demonstrates how engagement between farmers and the public takes place. We were also impressed with the quality of his writing and found the piece to be a very interesting read.”

Over the past five years, CPM has won five BGAJ awards that recognise writing excellence, including the Yara Arable Technical Writer of the Year award two years in succession in 2014 and 2015.
